Industrial Leak Sealing Techniques: Stop Leaks Without Shutdown Leak Sealing

Online leak sealing allows plants to address flange, valve, and pipeline leaks without costly shutdowns.

Clamp-Based Sealing

An engineered enclosure is built around the leaking joint and a sealant is injected into the annulus at a pressure above the process pressure, forming a seal that holds until the next planned outage.

Injection Techniques

Sealant selection depends on the medium, the temperature, and the pressure. Getting that choice wrong is the most common cause of a repeat leak.

When Each Method Fits

Clamp-based sealing suits flanges and valve bonnets; peel-and-wrap composite repairs suit through-wall pinholes in low-pressure lines. Neither replaces a permanent repair at the next turnaround.
